Khao Niau, which translates to “sticky rice”, is the name of our Restaurant in Bang Niang / Khao Lak in the south of Thailand. Sticky rice is a unique form of rice grain in the world wide range of rice varieties and traditionally eaten with fingers. With earthy, smoky flavors and a higher content in carbohydrates it makes this kind of rice the perfect choice with many of our specially prepared dishes from the Isan region (north-east Thailand). The Isan kitchen is closely related to the Laotian way of cooking; the gustatory sensation is brought forward through a huge array of herbs as well as grilled (smoked), roasted and sun dried ingredients, which appeals to the palate of the connoisseur as well as the curious food lover.
